Felting: Simple felting for bags etc using lots of embellishments. 2 days.
Silk Purses and Wall Hangings: Laid silk fibre with added fabric and threads, embroidered and beaded to create a rich surface - dyeing silk fibre and fabric can be included. 1-2 days.
Silk paper making: A variety of techniques to create silk paper. 1 to 2 days.
Walnut purses: Create a miniature embellished purse based on large walnut shells. 2 days.
Jewelled neckpieces: Handmade felt with embroidery and beading. 2 days.
Birds of a feather: Surface stitch and applique techniques using vintage recycled tea cloths and doilies. 2 days.
Felicity is a founding member of South Taranaki Stitchcraft Guild and comes from a family of embroiderers. She is mostly self taught and enjoys creating her own designs.
She is a past editor of Threads magazine, a role she held for 10 years. She also wrote a 240 page book about embroidery called The Decorative Stitch: 200 years of NZ embroidery.
Her current passion is stitching with handmade felt. This was inspired by trips along the Silk Road to China, Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan and India.
Felicity enjoys helping students create their own original interpretation of her designs.
